Prom is a once in a lifetime event…but how do you get ready for it? Well, I decided to create a few posts to help you guys out. Prepping your skin and nails is essential. Building from the ground up, right?
Making sure your face is moisturized, clear and radiant will minimize the need for heavy foundations and is a great first step. I recommend adding a mask to your daily routine, especially the night before.
TonyMoly Pureness 100 Mask – The pearl one is great for brightening up skin the night before.
Holika Holika Medi-Medi Acetyl Pack – Great for soothing breakouts. It won’t heal everything the night before, but a little is better than none, right?
Holika Holika Wine Therapy Sleeping Mask (White Wine) – Not only does it brighten up your skin, it makes it feel soft and supple the morning after.
Bioré Pore Strips – Helps get rid of some of those nasty blackheads.
Annie’s Way Arbutin + Hyaluronic Acid Mask – Makes skin feel soft and supple, and your skin will look brighter and more radiant after!
Exfoliating the morning of also gives you a nice, healthy glow. Some exfoliator and a good moisturizer the morning of will make sure that your skin is soft and radiant.
The Body Shop Squeaky Clean Scrub – Not too harsh, and great for treating breakouts.
TonyMoly Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-In Scrub – Gentle, moisturizing and who can argue with that cute packaging?
Oatmeal – Yep, you heard me. Natural, cheap and accessible. Your skin will look brighter and this is actually pretty good for whiteheads.
Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Shine Control Moisturizer – Good for oily or combo skin and doubles as a makeup base, too!
TheFaceShop Mango Seed Heart Volume Butter – Good for dry skin, but not bad for oily skin either. Absorbs easily and a great basic moisturizer.
Last, but not least, there are always skin issues we want to get rid of, or at least minimize, before the big night. Breakouts, big pores, dry, rough skin, cracked lips…you might not be able to make them go away, but a quick fix is better than none.
Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot Patch – Whitehead is pulled out in 2 days, pimples significantly reduced in size in 3.
TonyMoly DR Tony AC Control Spot Patch – Gentler than the previous one, but still pretty effective. A big whitehead is pretty much completely gone in about 5 days.
Etude House Goodbye Pore Ever Pore Primer Essence – Instantly minimizes the look of pores, and primes your skin for makeup, too.
Aveeno Fresh Essentials Hydrating Night Cream – Skin feels softer the next morning, and it helped with my dry patches during the winter.
C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve – Makes dry lips feel nice and moisturized after one night. Great for elbows, knees and cuticles, too!
EOS Lip Balm – Not only are these easy to take everywhere, they smell great, too! They moisturize lips really well, and are perfect for use at anytime.
Making sure the rest of your skin is also soft and moisturized is a must, as well.
Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion – Moisture that literally lasts through the next day and helps make skin feel much softer.
Nivea SOS Repari & Care Body Lotion – Easily absorbed and great at moisturizing even the driest patches of skin.
Lush Aqua Mirabilis – Your skin needs exfoliation, too, and this will do just that. Moisturizes while scrubbing away dead skin, and helps with those annoying bumps on arms and legs, too!
Whether you do your nails or not, having healthy, beautiful looking nails is still a must. You can bare them and show them off, but healthy nails are the best base for polish, too!
Burt’s Bee Lemon Butter Cuticle Oil – This will improve the look of cuticles after just one night, and smells great, too!
Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil – Makes cuticles soft and supple, and helps your nails look healthier, too!
Nature Republic 92% Aloe Vera Soothing Gel – Great for both hands and nails, this light fast absorbing moisturizer, will soften not only your skin, but your nails and cuticles, as well.
Vaseline Healthy Hand and Nail Lotion – Makes skin feel soft, makes nails look healthy and softens the cuticles, too. What more could you ask for?
Just prepping is pretty hard, huh? Well, if you’ve already established a good skin care routine, this should be a snap. Just make sure you’re not so excited you lose sleep! Undereye concealer is a great helping hand, but doesn’t always fix everything.
